MAPPA’s Ranma 1/2 Anime Reveals Additional Cast & Episode 1 Preview!

Three days before the return of Ranma 1/2.

The highly anticipated Ranma 1/2 series will premiere exclusively on Netflix starting October 5, with regional release dates staggered. Streaming in Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia will commence on October 6, with new episodes dropping weekly.

Episode 1 Preview:

A new character visual has been released featuring the guide of Jusenkyo, the mythical training ground known for its many cursed springs. This character is portrayed by Koichi Yamadera:

From October 15 to 31, commuters passing through Tokyo’s Ueno Station will be immersed in a special Ranma 1/2 collaboration. Located near the famous Ueno Zoo, known for its pandas, the station will feature visuals from the beloved series on a 100-meter-long screen along Platform 13.

Visitors can also enjoy dedicated photo spots around the station, while station announcements will be made by Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice behind Ranma.

The anime remake of Ranma ½ is set to release over three decades after the original’s conclusion. This announcement followed the reboot of another Rumiko Takahashi classic, URUSEI YATSURARanma ½, Takahashi’s third major series, was serialized from August 1987 to March 1996, spanning 407 chapters and 38 volumes.

Netflix describes the story as follows:

Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo’s parents have arranged for them to get married. However, there’s a problem: whenever Ranma is splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl! The stage is set for a slapstick martial arts rom-com filled with quirky characters!
