Since its launch on April 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the Attack on Titan – The Official Concert: Beyond the Walls World Tour has been captivating fans worldwide. This immersive experience allows audiences to relive the unforgettable soundtrack of Attack on Titan, performed live by a full orchestra and vocalists, accompanied by breathtaking visuals from the anime itself. Notably, this tour is the first official overseas concert fully supervised by the series’ composers, Hiroyuki SAWANO and KOHTA YAMAMOTO.

The concert is divided into two distinct parts. The first segment focuses on the original soundtrack of seasons 1 to 3, composed by Hiroyuki SAWANO, while the second highlights the OST of the final season, composed by KOHTA YAMAMOTO. This dual approach beautifully showcases the evolution of the series’ music and the unique styles of both composers.
Fans were treated to iconic tracks such as “at’aek ON taitn,” “counter・attack-mankind,” “Apple Seed,”, “Footsteps of Doom” and “Ashes on the Fire”.

A highlight of the tour came when anime producer Tetsuya Kinoshita made a surprise appearance on stage. Kinoshita shared that he once left a volume of the Attack on Titan manga in SAWANO’s office. Initially uninterested, SAWANO eventually read it and found himself inspired, which led to his iconic contributions to the series’ music.
Kinoshita also revealed some fun behind-the-scenes facts about SAWANO’s work. For instance, he mentioned that SAWANO’s soundtrack titles are often rough drafts meant to leave room for imagination, and even the composer sometimes struggles to read his own titles. Sawano enjoys wordplay and puns, exemplified in the track “K2-“ for Kenny: “K” represents Kenny, while “2” (pronounced “ni” in Japanese) also hints at his name a subtle joke for fans.
Another frequently referenced piece, “Sprinter Wolf”, is reportedly one Kinoshita listens to while brushing his teeth or doing dishes.

Regarding the collaboration between the two composers, Kinoshita explained that KOHTA YAMAMOTO was brought in on SAWANO’s suggestion. This decision was intended to provide a contrast in musical storytelling SAWANO’s compositions representing one side of the narrative, and YAMAMOTO’s reflecting the other. As Kinoshita eloquently put it, the dynamic between the two composers mirrors the relationship between Eren and Mikasa: complementary yet distinct.
Looking ahead, Tetsuya Kinoshita offered a glimpse of the franchise’s future:
“We plan to continue creating films like LAST ATTACK, concerts like this one, and various game collaborations moving forward.” he teased.
Overall, the Beyond the Walls World Tour offers an unforgettable experience for Attack on Titan fans, combining the emotional depth of the series’ soundtrack with a stunning visual journey. It’s more than a concert; it’s a celebration of the music that has defined a generation.
