Legendary Anime Singer NoB (Nobuo Yamada) Dies at 61

NoB (Nobuo Yamada), the singer known for performing the theme song of the anime Saint Seiya, passed away from kidney cancer on August 9 at the age of 61, according to his agency.

MOJOST announced, “Our artist, NoB (Nobuo Yamada), passed away at 1:39 p.m. on August 9 at the hospital where he was receiving treatment for kidney cancer. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the support he received throughout his life and share this news with everyone.”

Since his major debut in 1984 as the vocalist of MAKE-UP, NoB has been active across numerous bands and musical projects. Alongside his singing career, he has written and composed many songs. His performances of the opening and ending themes for the anime Saint Seiya, “Pegasus Fantasy” and “Blue Forever” have become iconic worldwide.

Since then, he has contributed to numerous anime theme songs and tokusatsu hero tracks, performing at concerts and events worldwide, and has won over fans both in Japan and internationally with his singing and stage presence.
