From the creators of the surprise hit original anime series ODDTAXI, director and character designer Baku Kinoshita, and writer and original creator Kazuya Konomoto, comes a brand-new theatrical anime film titled The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA). The film, produced by CLAP Animation Studio, is set to premiere in Japan in the Fall of 2025.
Anime Limited and Plaion Pictures have acquired the rights to The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) for the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The film will be released theatrically in these regions, followed by a home video release.

The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) has been officially selected for the Feature Film Competition at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The project was previously showcased in Annecy 2024’s “Work in Progress” program. Now completed, HOUSENKA will have its long-anticipated world premiere at Annecy 2025 this June.

SYNOPSIS:
“What a pathetic life it’s been”
An elderly inmate serving a life sentence awaits a lonely death in his solitary cell—until a voice calls out to him. It belongs to a balsam flower, Housenka, that speaks like a human. Through their “conversation,” the old man begins to reflect on the life he’s led.
