Space Academy Anime Gets Theatrical Film Adaptation, Opens September 11 in Japan

The anime film will open in Japan on September 11.

Yuji Nishimura has officially announced a theatrical adaptation of Space Academy. The movie, titled  Uchū Nanchara Kotetsu-kun: Ukkari Detekita Uchūjin o Sagase! (Space Academy: Find the Aliens Who Accidentally Came Out!), is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on September 11.

Alongside the announcement, the film’s key visual, teaser trailer, and a special commemorative illustration drawn by Nishimura were unveiled.

Nishimura launched the manga on August 6, 2019, shortly after the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, and has published a free chapter every other Monday since. It follows Kotetsu-kun and his friends at the Animal Space Academy as they train to become astronauts.

The anime adaptation aired its first season on NHK Educational from April 2021 to March 2022, followed by a second season from April 2022 to February 2023.
