July 2, 2023 at Anime Expo 2023, at Studio TRIGGER panel, they announced that they have officially acquired the original rights to GAINAX’s Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime, and are starting a new anime project entitled “NEW PANTY AND STOCKING”. The new project, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, is produced by TRIGGER, but the staff, cast and release date have yet to be confirmed at press time. The first trailer and key visual has been revealed.

The first season of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt aired in Japan in 2010, produced by Gainax with Hiroyuki Imaishi (Promare, Kill la Kill) as director.
