NARUTO is a manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. Met with immediate popularity following its initial publication in 1999, the series went on to receive an anime adaptation that commenced broadcasting in 2002.
The manga concluded in 2014 with a total of 700 chapters. The total number of print copies sold globally exceeds 250 million, and even now NARUTO events, games, merchandise, and more continue to be created and released for fans to enjoy— a testament to the series’ enduring influence and popularity around the world.

Cretton received Kishimoto’s blessing following a visit to Tokyo, a significant endorsement for his involvement in the project:
“When I heard of Destin’s attachment, it happened to be right after watching a blockbuster action film of his, and I thought he would be the perfect director for Naruto,” said Kishimoto in a statement. “After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is in creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for Naturo. In actually meeting Destin, I also found him to be an open-minded director who was willing to embrace my input, and felt strongly that we would be able to cooperate together in the production process.”
Since late 2015, Lionsgate has been in the process of developing the adaptation, and Cretton’s involvement represents a notable stride towards bringing it to fruition on screen.
The upcoming episodes of “NARUTO” will be broadcasted over a span of four weeks at a time yet to be announced, featuring FLOW returning to perform the opening and ending themes. Both the original “NARUTO” anime and its sequel series, “Naruto Shippuden,” are currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The platform describes the series as follows:
The Village Hidden in the Leaves is home to the stealthiest ninja. But twelve years earlier, a fearsome Nine-tailed Fox terrorized the village before it was subdued and its spirit sealed within the body of a baby boy.
