Rom-com anime fans have something special to look forward to this February. HIDIVE has announced a U.S. theatrical release for The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie, arriving at the same time as its Japanese release, a rare event for anime films.
The movie will screen in select U.S. theaters on February 16 (English subtitled) and February 18 (English dubbed). It will be shown in 10 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, and Fairfax, Virginia.
The film combines recap footage from Seasons 1 and 2 with brand-new animated scenes, continuing the romance between main characters Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada. Tickets go on sale January 23, and an official English-subtitled trailer is now available on HIDIVE’s YouTube channel.

The anime is based on the manga by Norio Sakurai, published by Akita Shoten, which currently spans 13 volumes. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on HIDIVE.
HIDIVE describes the movie as follows:
Kyotaro Ichikawa is a painfully awkward middle school boy deep in the throes of eighth-grader syndrome, spending his days obsessed reading morbid books like The Encyclopedia of Murder and anatomical diagrams.
His quiet, isolated world is suddenly turned upside down when Anna Yamada, the classroom star, unexpectedly steps into his life.
Whether she’s casually eating rice balls in the library, humming to herself, or suddenly closing the distance between them, Yamada’s unpredictable behavior leaves Ichikawa constantly off balance. And before he knows it, she is occupying his every day thoughts.
As they spend more time together, Yamada too begins to find herself drawn to Ichikawa in ways she never expected. It’s the first time either of them has truly understood what it means to “like” someone.
Through misunderstandings and clumsy, heartfelt emotions, the distance between them slowly, but surely, begins to close.
