Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle First Movie Surpasses 30 Billion Yen in 46 Days

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle the first film in the new trilogy released on July 18, has achieved remarkable box office success. In just 52 days, the film drew 22,007,405 moviegoers and generated a box office revenue of 31.42 billion yen. Notably, it surpassed 30 billion yen in only 46 days, setting a new record as the fastest film in Japanese history to reach that milestone, according to the Box Office News Agency.

The theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has seen unprecedented box office success in Japan. The film surpassed 10 billion yen in just 8 days after release (compared to Mugen Train, which achieved this in 10 days). It went on to exceed 20 billion yen in 23 days (Mugen Train reached the milestone in 24 days), and 30 billion yen in 46 days (Mugen Train did so in 59 days). For comparison, the previous installment, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train (released in October 2020), ultimately grossed 40.75 billion yen, becoming the highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history.

Aniplex, the distributor behind this major hit, expressed gratitude to fans, stating: “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to the theaters and to all those who helped bring this film to audiences”.

Currently, the top spot at the domestic box office is held by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train (2020) with ¥40.75 billion, followed by Spirited Away (2001) at ¥31.68 billion. This new release has secured the third position.

The opening performance of Infinity Castle was nothing short of historic. The film earned 5.52 billion yen in just three days, setting three all-time records in Japan: the highest opening weekend gross, the biggest first-day earnings, and the strongest single-day box office performance.

The highly anticipated film is now playing in Japan. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have officially announced the international theatrical release dates for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. The film will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English!

The movie will begin its global rollout in August 2025, with screenings in the United States and Canada starting on September 12, 2025. Tickets are now on sale for the international releases. Check out the list of International theatrical dates:

Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.

While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.

The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.
