Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 Unveils the Categories for their Upcoming Ceremony!

Awards celebrate the best and brightest in the anime industry!

Crunchyroll, the platform that connects anime fans around the world, today revealed the categories for the eighth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which will return to Tokyo on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Voting is determined by fans around the world.

This year, three categories have been added to the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, to reflect both artistic excellence and the variety of anime genres. The full list of categories for the Anime Awards 2024 is as follows:

  • Anime of the Year 
  • Best Action 
  • Best Animation
  • Best Anime Song  
  • Best Character Design
  • Best Comedy
  • Best Continuing Series
  • Best Director
  • Best Drama 
  • Best Ending Sequence
  • Best Fantasy 
  • Best Film 
  • Best Main Character 
  • Best New Series 
  • Best Opening Sequence 
  • Best Original Anime 
  • Best Romance
  • Best Score 
  • Best Supporting Character 
  • Best Voice Actor Performance — Awarded to voice actors across Arabic, Castilian, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin Spanish languages. 
  • “Must Protect At All Cost” Character 

The nominees in each category will be announced on January 17, 2024. The nominees are selected by the Anime Awards 2024 judges, independent individuals passionate about animation who represent over 100 artists, content creators and experts from around the world. This class represents the largest and most diverse set of judges in Anime Awards history. The full list of Anime Awards judges can be found here.

The eighth Anime Awards will be held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with a ceremony hosted by renowned dubbing actress Sally Amaki and popular presenter Jon Kabira. The event will be broadcast live.
