Bushiroad Inc. has announced that the supernatural yakuza visual novel “ROAD59 A Yakuza’s Last Stand” will launch globally on September 25, 2025, for Steam® (PC) and as a digital-only release for Nintendo Switch. The game is now available for wishlist on Steam.
Set in the futuristic and crime-ridden Tenkai Ward, ROAD59 tells a gripping story of honor, betrayal, and survival, where the supernatural power of JINGI collides with the underground yakuza world. The story follows Shou Himuro, a reluctant heir to the Hakurou Family, who must rise as its leader while navigating growing threats and uncovering buried secrets.
The newly released opening animation introduces the game’s jazz-inspired theme song, “INSANITYGRAY”, performed with live instruments to match the noir energy of the setting.
Players will encounter a vivid cast of characters and factions—from the disciplined Hakurou Family, to the corporate-dominated Kurojou Family, the unpredictable Shinonome, and the mysterious global mafia alliance PHOENIX.
ROAD59 features an expansive worldbuilding, including mythological lore like the Grail of Blood, JINGI abilities, and the Key of Orochi, a power that grants any wish—at a catastrophic cost. Players will also explore the iconic bar ROAD59, a critical location for gathering intel and shaping the game’s narrative direction.
With character designs by Gidora, partial voice acting, and subtitles in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, ROAD59 aims to deliver a rich, cinematic storytelling experience.
