Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Best-of Album

A three-disc collection of iconic collaborations!

Legendary Japanese band Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra is set to release their greatest hits album, NO BORDER HITS 2025→2001 ~The Best of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra~”, on March 19, 2025, in celebration of their 35th anniversary.

This 3-CD collection, curated by drummer Kin-ichi Motegi, highlights the band’s signature “no borders” philosophy. It features collaborations with renowned guest vocalists, including the latest track Tell Me, Ouroboros featuring Asako Miyazaki (SHISHAMO), as well as the NO BORDER trilogy:

  • Ichinichi Hana” (feat. imase & Narashino High School Brass Band)
  • Vague Me of Summer Days” (feat. SUPER EIGHT)
  • Like Flowers Fall” (feat. Masaki Suda)

A special highlight is a new recording of “Paradise Has No Border, featuring the NO BORDER ALL STARS—a lineup of famous wind instrument players, including renowned actor Ken Watanabe, who contributes both trumpet and vocals for the first time.

Formed in 1989, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra blends Jamaican ska with a variety of genres, creating their own unique sound known as “Tokyo ska”. Initially an instrumental band, they began incorporating guest vocalists in 2001, leading to hit collaborations with artists like Takao Tajima, Yusuke Chiba, and Tamio Okuda. Their 2002 album “Stompin’ On DOWN BEAT ALLEY” reached No.1 on Japan’s pop charts, selling 500,000 copies.

Beyond Japan, Skapara has performed in 32 countries, playing at major festivals like Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Coachella, where they became the first Japanese artists to perform on the main stage in 2013. Their dynamic live shows have earned them awards, including Best Performance in the Alternative category at Las Lunas del Auditorio (Mexico, 2019).

Now entering a new era, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra continues to spread their borderless musical vision across the world.
