Toei Animation has announced Dual Shadow ~Precure Villain Heroines~, a new spin-off anime set to premiere in Japan in 2027.
Unlike previous Precure spin-offs, the new series will feature an original story and original characters. Its main theme is villains, with the teaser declaring, “We are not Precure”.
More details about the anime will be announced at a later date.
The Precure franchise began in 2004 with Futari wa Precure and is currently airing its 23rd installment, Star Detective Precure!. Previous spin-offs include Power of Hope ~Precure Full Bloom~, Witchy Precure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~, and PetitCure: Precure Fairies.
Star Detective Precure!, the 23rd installment in Toei Animation’s long-running Precure franchise, has been streaming on Crunchyroll since February 2026 in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the CIS.
The story is described as follows:
On her 14th birthday, Anna Akechi meets a magical fairy and suddenly time-slips from 2027 to 1999! There, she befriends Mikuru, a spirited girl who dreams of becoming a detective. When mysterious thefts stir rumors of the Phantom Thieves, the two transform into Detective Precure, using courage, deduction, and friendship to solve cases and uncover the secret of Anna’s journey through time.
