AnimeTV: Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?

VK Blanka: Hi, I’m VK Blanka. I hope you know me from the theme songs for Black Clover or Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. Nice to meet you

How would you describe your musical style?

VK Blanka: I suppose my style is to do a bit of everything: composing using DTM, and for live performances – vocals, piano, guitar, drums, DJing.

How did the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus anime collab go?

VK Blanka: It was a genuinely exciting collaboration. Dragon Ball is one of the foundations of my whole outlook on life. Having performed overseas so much, I really understood just how great atreasure it is from Japan, so it was truly an honour.

What did you want to express through “Kan Peki No Peki,” and how did you connect thesong to the world of Dragon Ball Super?

VK Blanka: Dragon Ball has strength, flash, coolness, right. But at the same time, I’ve always felt it carries a real sense of sadness and absurdity underneath that. So I wanted to capture that duality in one song. Plus, a little bit of personal feeling thrown in too (laughs).

How did you go about writing the music for “Kan Peki No Peki”?

VK Blanka: I was writing the lyrics while searching for the melody that the words themselves seemed to be calling for. In a good way, it didn’t actually take that long.

“Kan Peki No Peki” has a very distinctive sound while still fitting the world of Dragon Ball. How did you find the balance between creating a song that feels like Dragon Ball and keeping your own musical identity?

VK Blanka: I never actually tried to balance it. The message of Dragon Ball already lives inside me. In other words, whatever song or lyrics I write honestly is, at its core, already Dragon Ball itself. Maybe that’s exactly why it ended up fitting the world so naturally

You said that you used to wake up early every week to watch Dragon Ball. Do you remember the first episode, character, or moment that really stayed with you?

VK Blanka: I’m “Gen Z” within Dragon Ball terms (laughs), so the fight against Cell really stuck with me. I remember feeling how different Android 17 and 18’s personalities were between the future and the past timelines, and realising just how much the environment you’re placed in really shapes who you become.

What do you think of the fans’ enthusiasm?

VK Blanka: I’m really happy about it. Even here in Japan, I can feel how much fans all over the world are genuinely excited that I’m doing the theme song. It’s made me look forward even more toperforming live in everyone’s countries.

Do you have any last message you would like to spread to your fans around the world?

VK Blanka: Hey, it’s VK Blanka. I’ll probably get to meet you in your country before too long. When that happens, let’s really get into it together. I’m always open-minded.
