“My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis” anime adaptation Announced

The romantic comedy from Dengeki Bunko follows former supernatural rivals adjusting to married life, with EMT Squared producing the animation.

A television anime adaptation of “My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis” was announced Oct. 3 during the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026 livestream. An announcement video, main staff credits and character designs were also released.

Atsushi Nigorikawa will direct the series at EMT Squared. A premiere date and voice cast were not announced.

The video features illustrations of Roshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Saigawa from the original light novels.

The adaptation is based on the light novel series known in Japan as “Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai.” Four volumes have been published, with the fifth scheduled for release Nov. 10.

Uzo and Hayashi also shared celebratory illustrations and messages. Uzo said the adaptation surprised him because he originally conceived the story as a stand-alone work, while Hayashi expressed excitement about seeing more of Ritsuka’s story animated.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Si-me is also available in Japan. One Peace Books plans to publish its first English volume, titled “My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis,” on March 16, 2027.

Roshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Nagira once fought for rival organizations of people with supernatural abilities. Their days revolved around violent confrontations, leaving them with little experience of ordinary life. After the organizations disband, the former enemies fall in love and marry.

Now an openly affectionate couple, they face a different set of challenges at home. Despite their devotion to each other, they have not consummated their marriage, leaving Roshi trying to grow closer to his reserved wife while navigating the complications of their new life together.
