Actor Kotaro Koizumi will make his debut in the Doraemon anime as a guest voice actor in the upcoming Doraemon Birthday Special, airing in Japan on September 6.
Koizumi will voice Howard Richie, a billionaire from the 22nd century who puts a large bounty on Doraemon to recover his stolen jewel, the “Smile of Dorayaki”, worth 1 billion yen.
This year’s episode is titled “Konkon Daikonran! Yougisha wa Doraemon!?”. The special episode will be part of the annual birthday celebration for Doraemon.

The story follows a major incident in the 22nd century. A valuable jewel worth 1 billion yen, called the Smile of Dorayaki, is stolen from the mansion of a billionaire named Richie. Security footage shows Doraemon as the suspect, even though he is innocent.
Wrongfully accused, Doraemon becomes a wanted fugitive across different eras. A large bounty is placed on his head, attracting many unusual bounty hunters who try to capture him.
Created by Fujiko F. Fujio, Doraemon remains one of Japan’s most iconic franchises. The anime, produced by Shin-Ei Animation, has aired more than 3,000 episodes since its debut in 1979.
