The Long Summer of August 31 TV Anime Adaptation Officially Announced

Coming-of-age time-loop comedy.

Ikkado Ito’s The Long Summer of August 31 is officially getting both a TV anime and a TV drama adaptation. The anime will be produced by SHAFT.

Serialized in Kodansha’s Morning magazine, The Long Summer of August 31 is a coming-of-age time-loop comedy about a high school boy and girl who repeatedly relive August 31. The manga currently has 13 collected volumes.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the series in English and describes the story as follows:

Caught in an endlessly repeating August 31st, high schoolers Suzuki Takaya and Takagi Kana are the only ones who remember each loop. The likely cause? Suzuki’s unfinished summer mission to secure a girlfriend and lose his virginity—the ultimate teenage goal. A hilarious yet heartfelt time-loop comedy!
