A new original short anime, Narumi’s Week at Work, based on Kaiju No. 8 by Naoya Matsumoto, will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on September 5. The series will have four episodes, with a new episode released every Saturday.
The newly released promotional video shows different sides of Gen Narumi that were not seen in the TV anime. It also features characters appearing in new scenes.
That the original story concept for Narumi’s Week at Work will be written by Kizuku Watanabe, the creator of the spin-off manga Kaiju No. 8 RELAX, which is currently serialized in Saikyo Jump (Shueisha).

A new visual was also revealed for the Kaiju No. 8 Anime Boot Camp in Tachikawa event, which will take place at Tachikawa Stage Garden in Tokyo on October 24. The illustration shows Kafka and the other characters wearing stylish autumn outfits instead of their usual Defense Force uniforms.
The event will include live voice performances, a special “Boot Camp” program, and brand-new original reading performances. The second round of advance ticket lottery applications is now available through Lawson Ticket.
In addition, August 5 marks Kafka Hibino’s birthday. To celebrate, a special birthday visual was released, showing Kafka happily enjoying a meal:

In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them.

Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.
He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her.
At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.
