The Apothecary Diaries: The Movie Reveals its First Trailer & New Key Visual

Additional cast has been revealed.

The official title of the first theatrical anime based on The Apothecary Diaries TV series has been revealed as The Apothecary Diaries: The Movie – Bouhi no Hihou.

The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 11, with its first trailer, teaser visual, and additional cast member unveiled alongside the announcement.

Unlike the television series, the movie will feature an entirely original story written by Natsu Hyuuga.

Norihiro Naganuma, who directed the anime’s first season and served as chief director and series composer for Season 2, will return to direct the feature film.

The newly released promotional materials also introduce a group of mysterious boys who play a pivotal role in the story, along with several brand-new characters that will make their debut in the film.

The third season of The Apothecary Diaries is officially set to air as a split two-cour series. The first half will premiere in October 2026, followed by the second half in April 2027. Direction will once again be led by Akinori Fudesaka, who previously helmed Season 2.

The Apothecary Diaries is based on the light novels by Natsu Hyuuga and Touko ShinoCrunchyroll streams the series and describes it:

Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
