My Hero Academia “I am a hero too” Short Anime Premieres at Anime Expo 2026

Celebrating 10 years of My Hero Academia and every fan who has been part of this story.

Details have been revealed for the second and third installments of the “Character Matchup Famous Episode Screening” project from the anime My Hero Academia, created by Kohei Horikoshi. The screenings will take place on August 1 and August 2 in theaters across major Japanese cities including Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

As part of the series’ 10th anniversary celebrations, the “Character Matchup Famous Episode Screening” project highlights key character pairings by screening selected episodes that focus on their relationships and conflicts. The first event, held on May 16, featured five episodes centered on Ochaco Uraraka and Himiko Toga, exploring their contrasting roles as hero and villain and their emotional connection.

The second screening will focus on Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo, childhood friends and long-time rivals. It will showcase episodes that trace their growth as they constantly clash while pushing each other forward.

The third screening will highlight the relationship between Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki. It will feature episodes that emphasize their opposing ideals, as Shigaraki pursues destruction while Deku seeks to understand and save him.

Stage greetings will be held for both events. The second screening will feature voice actors Daiki Yamashita (Deku) and Nobuhiko Okamoto (Bakugo), while the third will include Daiki Yamashita and Takaki Uchiyama, who voices Shigaraki, for a talk session.

Additionally, a newly animated short titled “I am a hero too”, included in the fan book My Hero Academia Ultra Age, will also be screened. The short will make its first public appearance at a special My Hero Academia event during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles this July, with streaming release scheduled for August 3, the day after the third screening.

“My Hero Academia” No.170+1 “More” is now streaming on Crunchyroll. “No.170+1 More” brings to life a special chapter written and illustrated by Horikoshi, originally included in volume 42 of the manga. The story takes place after the series’ conclusion, showing Class 1-A as professional heroes, while Deku has become a teacher at U.A. High School.
