The feature-length animated film “THE RIBBON HERO” inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s classic Princess Knight, is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in August 2026. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and details about the main production staff have also been revealed.

The film is directed by acclaimed animator Yuki Igarashi, marking his debut feature-length project.
Igarashi explains: “With this film, I wanted to express my deep respect for Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Princess Knight, as well as for Ichizo Kobayashi and the Takarazuka Revue, which inspired the original work. Despite hardships such as war and disease, they created timeless entertainment that became a cornerstone of our culture. I hope audiences today will experience this film as a thrilling and heartfelt example of what I consider true mainstream entertainment.”
