North American manga and light novel publisher Seven Seas Entertainment will soon have a new owner. Media Do International, Inc., part of the MEDIA DO Group, has signed an agreement to buy the company.
According to Nikkei, the deal is worth about ¥12.4 billion (around $80 million).
Seven Seas was founded in 2004 by Jason DeAngelis. Over the years, the company has built a large catalog of manga, webtoons, danmei, and light novels across many genres. The publisher regularly announces new licenses.
At Citrus Con 2026, Seven Seas revealed three new boys’ love titles: Stranger: A Western BL by Hayate Kuku, Marchen by Hayate Kuku, and Wolfhound by IROHA MEGU.

Media Do said that Seven Seas will continue to operate with the same leadership and editorial direction. There are no planned changes to distribution, publishing schedules, or daily operations. Penguin Random House will remain the worldwide distributor for all Seven Seas imprints.
Seven Seas CEO and founder Jason DeAngelis also shared positive comments about the acquisition:
“For more than twenty years, our focus has been simple: publishing exceptional stories and treating them with care, respect, and the passion of fans who never forget what drew us to these stories in the first place. This partnership strengthens our long-term position while preserving the creative independence and publishing mission that define Seven Seas. We remain deeply committed to our creators, partners, and readers.”
