Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Anime Celebrates its 1st Anniversary with New Visual!

The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

The TV anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, will mark its first anniversary on September 29. To celebrate, a special commemorative visual has been released, along with details about an upcoming theatrical screening of the anime.

The commemorative visual, created by MADHOUSE—the studio responsible for the anime production—features Frieren, Fern and Stark, as well as Himmel, Heiter and Eisen, in a magnificent flower garden.

In addition, original goods using the same visual will be sold. Pre-orders will be available from 12 p.m. on August 30 to 11:59 p.m. on September 16 at the TOHO animation STORE in Japan.

On September 28, seven theaters across Japan will host a special screening of episodes 1 to 4 of the anime. At TOHO Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo, the event will feature a stage greeting with voice actors Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren), Kana Ichinose (Fern), Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Himmel), Hiroki Tochi (Heiter), and Yoji Ueda (Eisen) following the screening. The event will also be broadcast live to six additional theaters. Each participating theater will offer a commemorative postcard featuring a visual celebrating the first anniversary of the anime.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga is written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, VIZ Media releases the manga in English. Crunchyroll is stream the series and describes the story as follows:

The mage Frieren defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel’s party after a 10-year quest. Peace was restored to the kingdom. Because she is an elf, she is able to live over a thousand years. She promises Himmel and the others that she will be back to see them and then sets out on a journey by herself. Fifty years later, Frieren goes to visit Himmel and the others. She remained unchanged, but Himmel and the others have aged and only a little of their lives remain. Later, she witnesses Himmel’s death. Frieren is pained by her desire to have spent more time getting to know people. With that regret in her heart, she then goes on a journey to do just that. On her journey, she meets many people and many events await her.
