The upcoming remake of the classic anime series Ranma 1/2 has announced its premiere for October 5, along with the animation studio, and voice cast. The anime is set to premiere on NTV (Nippon Television) and Netflix Japan, with animation production by MAPPA. The first trailer and a key visual have also been unveiled.

Many of the original voice actors from the original Ranma 1/2 anime are returning to reprise their roles in the remake, including Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma’s male voice and Megumi Hayashibara as Ranma’s female voice. The opening theme will be performed by ano.

The anime remake of Ranma ½ is set to release over three decades after the original’s conclusion. This announcement followed the reboot of another Rumiko Takahashi classic, URUSEI YATSURA. Ranma ½, Takahashi’s third major series, was serialized from August 1987 to March 1996, spanning 407 chapters and 38 volumes.
Original synopsis describes the series:
Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo of Tendo Dojo are betrothed to each other by their parents. But Ranma faces a unique problem… Ever since he fell into the cursed springs of Jusenkyo while training in China, his body has acquired the peculiar trait of transforming into a girl when doused with cold water and reverting to a boy with hot water.
