Originally released for PC in Japan in 2012, the visual novel follows Aoko Aozaki, Alice Kuonji and Soujuurou Shizuki in a story set during the late 1980s. A remastered version featuring full voice acting was later released internationally for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022, followed by a Steam release in 2023.

The anime adaptation was first announced in December 2021, with ufotable handling animation production. The studio is also known for its work on “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” “Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works,” the “Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel” film trilogy and “The Garden of Sinners.”
“Witch on the Holy Night” will premiere in Japan on Nov. 20, followed by its worldwide theatrical rollout beginning Jan. 21, 2027.
