Witch Hat Atelier TV Anime Adds New Ending Theme Song “Hikari” by Nakamura Hak

The ending theme lineup for the TV anime Witch Hat Atelier, based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama, now includes a third song: “Hikari”, an unreleased track by Nakamura Hak. The series is currently streaming weekly on Netflix, ABEMA, and Crunchyroll.

Currently airing, the anime has already featured “Tada Utsukushii Noroi” as its main ending theme, with “Yoru ni Ukabu” appearing in episodes 3 and 5. With the addition of “Hikari”, all three songs are now part of the series’ ending rotation.

Kamome Shirahama also created a new illustration after listening to the three tracks. The artwork portrays Coco gazing sharply into the distance, capturing the emotional tone of the music.

This newly drawn illustration will also be used as the cover art for Nakamura Hak’s first single CD, “Tada Utsukushii Noroi”, set for release on June 10. The single will include all three songs: “Tada Utsukushii Noroi”, “Yoru ni Ukabu”, and “Hikari”.

The original Witch Hat Atelier manga by Kamome Shirahama began serialization in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine in July 2022. So far, 15 volumes have been released in Japan. An English version is also available through Kodansha USA.

Kodansha describes the story as follows:

In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch…until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…
