Witch Hat Atelier Releases Anime Music Video for Nakamura Hak’s “Hikari”

The anime version of the music video for “Hikari” by Nakamura Hak, featured as an ending theme for the TV anime Witch Hat Atelier based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama, has officially been released.

“Hikari” was first broadcast during Episode 8 on May 25. The newly released music video combines scenes from the anime with synchronized vocal performances, creating a visual experience that reflects both the atmosphere of the series and the emotions conveyed in the song’s lyrics.

Alongside “Hikari,” two other songs by Nakamura Hak — “Tada Utsukushii Noroi” and “Yoru ni Ukabu” — have also been featured as ending themes for the anime. A CD single titled Tada Utsukushii Noroi, containing all three tracks, was released on June 10, with cover artwork illustrated by Kamome Shirahama herself.

In addition, Nakamura Hak’s first online live concert, “TOKYO NODE × maximum10 presents / Unplugged Live,” will take place on May 29 at 8 PM JST. The performance will be streamed worldwide for free on YouTube.

The original Witch Hat Atelier manga by Kamome Shirahama began serialization in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine in July 2022. So far, 15 volumes have been released in Japan. An English version is also available through Kodansha USA.

Kodansha describes the story as follows:

In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch…until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…
