Two beloved films from Studio Ghibli will return to theaters in special IMAX screenings this spring. Distributor GKIDS continues its collaboration with the IMAX Corporation to present new 4K remasters of two fan-favorite movies.
First, WHISPER OF THE HEART will screen in IMAX theaters across the United States and Canada for the first time ever. The film will be shown for one night only on April 21. Audiences will be able to watch the movie in both Japanese with subtitles and English dubbed versions.
Directed by Yoshifumi Kondo at Studio Ghibli, the coming-of-age story originally premiered in 1995 and has remained a favorite among Ghibli fans.

Next, THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY will also arrive in IMAX with a brand-new 4K remaster. The film will screen for one night only on May 19 in the United States and Canada.
The movie was directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and first premiered in 2010. This will be the first time the film is shown in IMAX theaters.

In a secret world hidden beneath the floorboards, tiny people called Borrowers live out of sight of humans. But when brave Arrietty is out gathering supplies, she is discovered by Shawn, a human boy, and they begin to form a friendship that blossoms into a heartwarming adventure.
GKIDS describes WHISPER OF THE HEART as follows:
A chance encounter with a mysterious cat sends Shizuku, a girl with her head in the clouds, on a quest for her true talent. Together with Seiji, a boy determined to follow his dreams, and enchanted by The Baron, an antique cat figurine who guides her to listen to the whispers of her heart, Shizuku embarks on a life-changing adventure that takes her beyond the boundaries of her imagination.
