[UPDATED] Uoto’s “Hyakuemu” to Make Big-Screen Debut on September 19 in Japan & Coming to North American this October

Student becomes master and a thrilling rivalry is born in... 100 METERS!

The theatrical anime Hyakuemu (100 METERS) by Uoto (known for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) is set to hit theaters on September 19, featuring Tōri Matsuzaka and Shôta Sometani in leading roles. A teaser visual and a special preview have also been unveiled.

GKIDS has joined as a producing partner and will release the film in theaters across North America this October.

Annecy Festival describes the story as follows:

Togashi is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without effort. But in sixth grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. In teaching him, Togashi gives Komiya a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, Togashi and Komiya meet again as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.
