The fifth film in the Sumikko Gurashi movie series is set to premiere in 2027, with a commemorative illustration drawn by creator Yuri Yokomizo.
Sumikko Gurashi will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2027. The fifth movie, which will be released during this milestone year, will once again feature the main character, Neko (Cat).

As the first event celebrating the franchise’s 15th anniversary, Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: The Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night, which was originally released in 2021, will return to theaters across Japan from October 31 to November 3. The film will be screened at 82 theaters nationwide.
New footage created especially for the event will be shown after the end credits. Attendees will also receive a postcard featuring a newly drawn illustration as a special gift.
The Movie Sumikko Gurashi series is based on the beloved Sumikko Gurashi characters created by San-X. The first film in the franchise, Sumikko Gurashi: The Pop-up Book and the Secret Child, premiered in 2019. Since then, the series has attracted over 3 million viewers in total.
