Solo Leveling brings its hunters to Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment is bringing the world of “Solo Leveling” to “Overwatch” through a limited-time crossover called Overwatch x Shadow Monarch. The collaboration runs from Oct. 6-26 and features five “Overwatch” heroes dressed as characters from the anime and webtoon franchise.

The lineup pairs Genji with Sung Jinwoo, tracing Jinwoo’s rise from a low-ranked Hunter to the commander of the Shadow Army. Reaper becomes Igris, the Blood-Red Commander who returns as one of Jinwoo’s powerful Shadow Soldiers. Anran takes on the role of Cha Hae-In, an S-Rank Hunter, while Reinhardt appears as Iron, a former A-Rank Hunter who joins the Shadow Army. Lifeweaver rounds out the set as Choi Jong-In, an S-Rank Mage Hunter and Guild Master.

Blizzard’s announcement emphasizes the contrast between the Hunters and the Shadows: the skins draw on the series’ dark fantasy look while adapting each character to “Overwatch’s” colorful hero roster. The event page also includes collaboration artwork and a “MegaBundle” image, but the announcement does not specify the skins’ prices or whether each will be sold separately.

Blizzard calls the crossover “Shadow Monarch” in its official announcement. That is the clearest name to use in the article, even though the character designs are based on “Solo Leveling.”
