Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie -Walpurgisnacht Rising- has surpassed 1 billion yen at the Japanese box office in just four days. The latest film in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series was released in Japan on August 28, marking the franchise’s first new movie in 13 years.
The film ranked #1 in both audience attendance and box office revenue during its opening weekend. It reached 1 billion yen between August 28 and August 31, moving faster than Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie [New Edition] Rebellion, which was released in 2013 and went on to earn over 2 billion yen in total.
A new web commercial featuring previously unseen footage from the film has also been released.
