YOASOBI’s “Idol” Wins Best Anime Song at MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025

From “Oshi no Ko” to viral charts

The MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025 celebrated the best in Japanese and Asian music during its two-day event on May 21–22, highlighting 62 award categories. Among the biggest winners was YOASOBI, whose hit anime opening “Idol” from Oshi no Ko took home Best Anime Song, Top Global Hit from Japan, and Best Music Video. Composer Ayase also received the Song of the Year for Creators for “Idol”.

Creepy Nuts were also widely honored, winning Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop/Rap Song, Best Dance Pop Song, and multiple regional awards for their viral track “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born”.

Other major wins include:

  • Artist of the Year: Mrs. GREEN APPLE
  • Album of the Year: Fujii Kaze’s LOVE ALL SERVE ALL
  • Best New Artist: tuki.
  • Best Asian Song: aespa – “Supernova”
  • Best International Pop Song in Japan: ROSÉ & Bruno Mars – “APT.”
  • Best Vocaloid Song: Kurousa-P – “Senbonzakura”
  • Special Cultural Awards were presented to artists from Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

The awards, organized by five of Japan’s major music organizations, aim to spotlight Japanese and Asian music globally while encouraging cross-border cultural exchange. YOASOBI shared heartfelt thanks on social media, saying “Idol” continues to show us new landscapes, and expressed gratitude for their fans’ ongoing support.
