VIZ Media Acquires Remake YAIBA: Samurai Legend Anime!

From the creator of Case Closed!

During their industry panel at New York Comic Con, VIZ Media announced that they have acquired the license for Gosho Aoyama‘s Yaiba: Samurai Legend manga and anime series.

Aoyama debuted the series in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in September 1988, wrapping it up in December 1993 with 24 compiled book volumes. This success led to a 52-episode anime adaptation airing from April 1993 to April 1994.

The series centers on Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai boy influenced by Miyamoto Musashi, the historical swordsman known for developing the Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū style of dual-wielding and authoring the classic military strategy text, The Book of Five Rings.
