TOHO Animation Unveils New “Godzilla” Anime Featuring a Boy With Godzilla’s Power

A new era of Godzilla begins.

TOHO Animation has announced the production of a new Godzilla anime series, accompanied by the release of concept art. The show will feature a main character described as a “boy with the power of Godzilla”, marking a unique and unprecedented direction for the franchise’s more than 70-year history, which has included numerous live-action films.

Official announcement:

The anime will be produced in collaboration with Orange, the studio behind Godzilla Singular Point, and IGLOO Studio, an animation company based in Thailand. As for details such as the official title and release date, we will have to wait for further announcements.

This announcement was made on stage at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025. During the presentation, Keiji Ota, TOHO’s Managing Executive Officer and Chief Godzilla Officer, stated:

“This work marks the first installment in a series titled ‘The Boy with the Power of Godzilla.’ I believe it will allow us to portray both fear and hope in this era with even greater depth.”
