The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) Movie Drops First 7 Minutes Ahead of October Premiere

The first seven minutes of the anime film The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) have been unveiled ahead of its official release on October 10 in Japan. Featuring the opening theme “Moving Still Life” by cero, the preview immerses viewers in the breathtaking atmosphere of a summer festival, where fireworks light up the night sky one after another.

Anime Limited and Plaion Pictures have acquired the rights to The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) for the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The film will be released theatrically in these regions, followed by a home video release.

The Tokyo International Film Festival will take place in Japan’s capital from October 27 to November 5. Among its animation lineup is The Last Blossom, featured alongside the 4K remaster of Angel’s Egg, Yasuhiro Aoki’s Cha0, and Shoji Kawamori’s Labyrinth, as well as a wide selection of the latest anime films from Japan and abroad. All screenings will include English subtitles.

SYNOPSIS:
Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving life in prison, is on the verge of a lonely death in his single cell. A talking Housenka flower says to him, “What a rotten life you had.” Akutsu starts reflecting on his past. Summer 1986. Akutsu is living with Nana and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of Housenkas. It is the tale of a one-night victorious comeback by a dying yakuza, and his family’s story told by a flower that blooms in prison.
