Ranma 1/2 Anime Live Dubbing Event Set for June in Tokyo

Netflix streams the series.

Details have been revealed for a special live dubbing event of the Ranma 1/2 TV anime. The event is scheduled to take place on June 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Shinjuku Balt 9 in Tokyo.

Kappei Yamaguchi (boy-type Ranma), Megumi Hayashibara (girl-type Ranma), Noriko Hidaka (Akane), and Rei Sakuma (Shampoo) appeared on stage. The event featured live voice acting performances and cast discussions, along with an exclusive sneak peek of the anime’s second season.

Attendees could purchase event-exclusive merchandise, and each guest received a commemorative pamphlet as a special gift.

The anime remake of Ranma ½ is set to release over three decades after the original’s conclusion. This announcement followed the reboot of another Rumiko Takahashi classic, URUSEI YATSURARanma ½, Takahashi’s third major series, was serialized from August 1987 to March 1996, spanning 407 chapters and 38 volumes.

Netflix describes the story as follows:

Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo’s parents have arranged for them to get married. However, there’s a problem: whenever Ranma is splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl! The stage is set for a slapstick martial arts rom-com filled with quirky characters!
