MAPPA President and CEO Manabu Otsuka explained that the partnership reflects MAPPA’s belief in remaining an independent studio while taking full control of creative and business decisions. He said the studio aims to better understand global audiences and expand anime beyond Japan.

Netflix’s Vice President of Content in Japan, Kaata Sakamoto, praised MAPPA’s bold creative vision and said Netflix wants to push anime further by combining creative freedom with global reach.

Anime continues to be a major focus for Netflix, with more than half of its members watching anime and viewership tripling over the past five years. With this expanded partnership, Netflix and MAPPA hope to bring more original anime to fans worldwide and explore new possibilities for the medium.
