The second feature film in Kenji Nakamura’s Mononoke trilogy based on his original series is set to premiere worldwide on Netflix on August 14, under the title “Mononoke The Movie: Chapter 2 – The Ashes of Rage.”
The film premiered in Japan on March 14 and earned over 98 million yen (~$675,000 USD) in its opening weekend. It also had its Western premiere at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The Mononoke film was revealed during the 15th-anniversary event for the 2007 Mononoke series in June 2022, with an initial aim for release in 2023. Mononoke originates as a spin-off from the 2006 series Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales.
