The “Movie Edition” of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN will re-edit the six episodes of the original OVA into three chapters for theatrical release. This special edition will be screened in theaters across Japan, beginning with the Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo on September 13. It’s important to note that the Movie Edition won’t include any new footage or cuts; it is purely a re-edit of the existing episodes for cinematic presentation.
The theatrical debut of Chapter 1: Char & Sayla took place on Friday, September 13, with a runtime of 110 minutes. This chapter featured the first two OVA episodes, titled “Blue Eyed Casval” and “Artesia’s Sorrow”.
Chapter 2: To War followed, premiering on Friday, September 27. It had a total runtime of 120 minutes and included OVA episodes 3, “Dawn of Rebellion,” and 4, “Eve of Destiny.”
Finally, Chapter 3: Loum made its debut on Friday, October 11, running for 147 minutes. This chapter showcased OVA episodes 5, “Clash at Loum,” and 6, “Rise of the Red Comet.”
In September, all three chapters will be screened sequentially, the film is scheduled to be screened in 18 theaters nationwide, from Sapporo Cinema Frontier in Hokkaido to TOHO Cinemas LaLaport Fukuoka in Fukuoka from October 25. In addition, as a gift for visitors to each chapter, an A5 illustration sheet using newly drawn illustrations by Yasuhiko will be distributed:
