Frontier Works Inc. has teamed up with globally recognized illustrator Maniani to unveil the enchanting universe of “Maniani World” at Anime Expo 2025, held from July 3–6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Boasting over 150,000 followers on X, Maniani is best known for a unique artistic style that fuses kawaii (cute) with kowai (scary) to produce creations that are irresistibly “kowaii” (scarily cute).

Visitors will get an exclusive first look at brand-new “Maniani World” merchandise at Booth SH-4908, including Shadow Cat acrylic stands, T-shirts, keychains, and an illustration book. The booth will also showcase a limited-edition skateboard deck, available exclusively overseas via Animate International, with pre-orders running from June 6 to July 28, 2025.
In addition to product reveals, Frontier Works’ Creative Director Yuka Mochizuki will headline a talk panel titled “The Visual Expressions Hidden in the Characters of Maniani World” on July 3 from 5:15 PM – 6:05 PM (Room 402AB). The event will delve into the conceptual development and design philosophy behind Maniani’s monsters, revealing the inner workings of their signature aesthetic.
Attendees can also receive an exclusive commemorative gift by participating in a booth collaboration between “Maniani World” and the animate GROUP booth (SH-504). By collecting a special ticket-style card from the animate GROUP booth and presenting it at the Maniani World space, fans can claim a limited-edition giveaway, while supplies last.
The “Maniani World” exhibition highlights Maniani’s signature blend of darkness and charm through captivating characters and collectibles. This debut marks a significant step for the illustrator’s global brand expansion and introduces the unique “kowaii” aesthetic to new international audiences.
