To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki, the original manga author of GeGeGe no Kitaro, a new anime feature film titled Kitaro Tanjou – GeGeGe no Nazo is set to be released on November 17, 2023. The film, set in the 1950s, explores the birth of Kitaro and delves into the hidden mystery surrounding his father, Medama Oyaji. This marks a significant event for the GeGeGe no Kitaro anime franchise, as it is the first theatrical film in 15 years since Gegege no Kitaro: Nihon Bakuretsu!! in 2008.
