Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME made a strong first impression at Anime Expo 2025 with its exciting first demo. Created by Akatsuki Games and based on the hit anime, the game is a fast and action-packed RPG where players fight giant Kaiju monsters.
Over the weekend, one of the most popular attractions in the Entertainment Hall was making personalized Japan Defense Force-style ID cards. At the same time, more and more people became interested in the game demo. Players got to act as members of the Defense Force, planning their moves and fighting off waves of Kaiju monsters coming from a mysterious “Kaiju Dimensional Gate.” The action-packed Ultimate attacks made the experience even more exciting, drawing in crowds and adding to the lively atmosphere around the booth.
Additional booth highlights included:
- Photo ID Creation Station – Attendees received personalized Japan Defense Force–style ID cards after getting their photo taken
- Towering LED Video Wall – Showcasing cinematic trailers and in-game cutscenes from the latest build
- Exclusive AX Giveaways – Limited-edition merchandise featuring original game artwork, available only at Anime Expo

Pre-registration for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is now available on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam. Join the battle and be among the first to join the Defense Force’s fight against the Kaiju.
Based on the hit manga series by Naoya Matsumoto, Kaiju No. 8 is an anime adaptation of the ongoing manga serialized on Shonen Jump+ (published by Shueisha) since 2020. As of April 2025, the manga has over 18 million copies in circulation in Japan and has accumulated more than 700 million views on Shonen Jump+.
Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME – STORY:
Mysterious gates known as the Kaiju Dimensional Gates have suddenly appeared due to the actions of a certain Kaiju. In this new Kaiju No. 8 world, where Kaiju with unknown powers appear not only in Japan but across the globe, Identified Kaiju that were once thought to be defeated now confront the Defense Force by passing through these Kaiju Dimensional Gates.
On top of that, unknown Kaiju possessing special abilities—and seemingly responsible for the creation of these Kaiju Dimensional Gates—continue to cross over the boundary between dimensions to launch their attacks. Their appearance has led to a series of battles against colossal Kaiju.
