Hyakuemu Rotoscoped Film Officially Announced for 2025!

Get ready next year!

A theatrical anime adaptation of Uotoyo‘s “Hyakuemu” has been announced, with Kenji Iwaisawa set to direct. The film is scheduled for release in Japan in 2025. To celebrate the announcement, Uotoyo has released a newly drawn illustration.

Additionally, it has been announced that “Hyakuemu” will be featured in the “Work in Progress” section at the “Annecy International Anime Film Festival 2024,” which will take place in France from June 9 to 15. Annecy describes the story as follows:

Togashi is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without effort. But in sixth grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. In teaching him, Togashi gives Komiya a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, Togashi and Komiya meet again as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.
