HIDIVE announced that it has added all 42 episodes of the classic 1981 sci-fi adventure TV anime Queen Millennia to its catalog. The series is now available for streaming in Japanese with English subtitles.
Coinciding with the streaming debut, Sentai Filmworks released a complete Blu-ray collection of the series the same day.
Key Visual:

Originally broadcast in Japan from April 16, 1981, to March 25, 1982, the 42-episode anime was produced by Toei Animation. The series adapts Shin Taketori Monogatari Sennen Joo, a manga by Leiji Matsumoto. The manga ran in the Sankei Shimbun and Nishinippon Sports newspapers from January 28, 1980, to May 11, 1983, and was later collected into five tankōbon volumes.
Beyond its television run, Queen Millennia inspired a two-volume novelization, two separate light novel series, and an animated film retelling released in 1982.
HIDIVE describes the series as follows:
In 1999, Professor Amamori discovers that a new planet in our solar system is on a collision course with Earth. As doomsday preparations begin and the Millennial Bandits plot planetary destruction, Amamori’s nephew Hajime moves in and starts to suspect that Yayoi, his uncle’s assistant, isn’t exactly what she seems. Join Hajime as he uncovers the secrets of the universe in the classic space opera QUEEN MILLENNIA!
