Studio Khara has announced on its official website on the 18th that its President and CEO, Hideaki Anno (65), will join the board of directors at anime studio Production I.G.
According to the official statement:
“Hideaki Anno, President and CEO of our company, will be appointed as a director of Production I.G, Inc. on August 21, 2025.”
Mr. Anno directed the 1988 OVA Gunbuster and the groundbreaking TV anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, which premiered in 1995. In 2006, he founded Studio Khara, where he currently serves as CEO. In 2016, he wrote and directed the live-action film Shin Godzilla. This year, he also penned the script for the anime Gundam GQuuuuuuX. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 2022.
Production I.G., a wholly owned subsidiary of IG Port Co., Ltd., is renowned for creating hit anime series such as HAIKYU!!. The studio is also behind popular titles like PSYCHO-PASS, Kuroko’s Basketball, Aoashi, and Kaiju No. 8.
