At the CloverWorks industry panel during Anime Expo 2024, a new original anime project was announced. The project, tentatively titled GROTESQUE, is directed by Atsushi Nishigori (known for DARLING in the FRANXX) and scheduled for release in 2025. A teaser trailer was also released.

GROTESQUE is the first official project from JOEN, a creative partnership formed in 2022 by animation studios CloverWorks and WIT Studio, publisher Shueisha, and Sony media subsidiary Aniplex. The partnership aims to plan and produce animation works, including TV series, feature films, and short clips.
