Fruits Basket -prelude- Anime Screens Again for Crunchyroll Anime Nights on February 16, 2026

To celebrate the month of love, Crunchyroll Anime Nights is bringing back a fan-favorite story to the big screen. Fruits Basket -prelude- (2022) will return to theaters for one night only on February 16. The special screening will take place in select theaters across the United States and Canada.

Fruits Basket -prelude- was released after the broadcast of the latest Fruits Basket anime adaptation, which aired from 2019 to 2021. The original manga, created by Natsuki Takaya, was serialized in Hana to Yume magazine between 1998 and 2006 and spans a total of 23 volumes.

The 2019 anime series is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll, which describes the story as follows:

Tohru Honda thought her life was headed for misfortune when a family tragedy left her living in a tent. When her small home is discovered by the mysterious Soma clan, she suddenly finds herself living with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma. But she quickly learns their family has a bizarre secret of their own: when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Zodiac!
