The anime Detective Conan, based on Gosho Aoyama’s original work, will air a special one-hour episode in January 2026.
Since its debut on January 8, 1996, Detective Conan has surpassed 1,100 episodes and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. The special episode, titled Detective Conan: Episode “ZERO” Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Incident, will mark the start of the anniversary celebrations.

The episode is set shortly before the main story begins, prior to high school student Shinichi Kudo’s transformation into Conan Edogawa. Shinichi and Ran Mouri visit the aquarium to devise a plan to help reconcile Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki, who are currently separated. However, a murder occurs during their visit, and Shinichi must work to identify the culprit.
Gosho Aoyama‘s Detective Conan manga, known as Case Closed in English by Viz Media, debuted in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994. As of October 2024, the series spans 106 tankōbon volumes. The anime adaptation premiered in 1996, followed by the release of the first anime film in 1997.
