Kojima Productions has announced “DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS” (working title), a brand-new anime series set to stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.
Unlike the narrative of the original video games, this upcoming project will explore an entirely new storyline, expanding the world of Death Stranding through a fresh perspective. The series will be produced in a traditional hand-drawn 2D animation style, marking a notable shift from the visual direction of the games.
As part of the reveal, Kojima Productions showcased the first pieces of concept art, created by acclaimed illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov, offering an early look at the show’s tone and aesthetic.

Death Stranding was originally developed by Kojima Productions and published by both 505 Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. According to 505 Games, the game is officially described as:
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes a critically acclaimed, genre-defying open world action adventure for PC, starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner.
In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.
